Privacy policy

This policy describes information stored in your browser and information that may be sent to external services when you use KoReADAR.

Accounts and language preferences

The service currently has no accounts, comments or payments. It stores koreadar.lang in your browser’s local storage to remember your Korean or English preference. This value is used by the browser and is not separately sent to our server. You can remove it by clearing site data in your browser.

Helpful / not helpful feedback

When you press the helpful or not helpful button on a ranking card, the server stores the topic identifier, your choice, the rank and time of the card you saw, the time you pressed it, and a random identifier created in your browser’s local storage (koreadar.voter). The identifier is used only to count repeated feedback from the same browser once; it is not stored with a name, account or IP address. Your own choices are also kept in your browser as koreadar.votes so the page can show them. Feedback is used for per-topic totals and to improve ranking quality. Pressing the same button again deletes your feedback from the server.

Connection information

To deliver pages and diagnose errors, the server and connection providers may process IP addresses, request paths, access times, and device or browser request information. The current page server records request paths, times and response status in operational logs. Depending on the connection provider, the server may see a proxy address rather than your address. Logs are used for service operation and troubleshooting; no automatic deletion schedule is currently configured.

External files, images and links

The live view loads interface files and fonts from jsDelivr and unpkg. Preview images may load directly from publishers or their image providers. Those providers may receive your IP address and browser request information. Opening an original link takes you to a site governed by its own privacy policy. Translation is performed on the server using collected public text; visitors’ input is not sent to the translation service.

Advertising and cookies

Google AdSense advertising code and visitor analytics tags are not currently active on this page. If advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies allow it and its partners to provide personalized ads based on those visits.

You can manage personalized Google ads in My Ad Center. You can also opt out of personalized advertising from some third-party vendors through the industry opt-out tool. See how Google uses information from partner sites and Google’s privacy policy for details.

Before activating advertising, we will update the vendor and data-processing information and provide consent management where required. Where consent is requested, the consent interface will allow you to change or withdraw your choice. You can also clear or block cookies through your browser.
